Tourism is a major contributor to the GDP of Cambodia. In that respect it is similar to the industry and importance in Vietnam. However, here in Cambodia the style and make up of the sector is different.
With our experience in the Hospitality industry in South East Asia over the last 20+ years and in particular in Vietnam, having produced the only detailed survey of the industry for the last 10 years, we felt we should make a similar contribution in Cambodia.
It was with this in mind that we embarked on our first survey in 2012. Given the size of the market and the number of higher end properties, we have taken a different approach for Cambodia. We have visited and talked to most of the General Managers of 3, 4 and 5-Star hotels in the major locations. The results of these discussions have been most illuminating.
